I am thrilled to introduce myself here on my very first blog post! I am Leslie, I live just outside of Portland Oregon with my husband and our 4 kids. A few little things about me are that I am a work from home mom, I drive the ugliest car you’ve ever seen, I love my family, friends, food, travel and sometimes exercise.
We had an extremely busy Fall in 2017 that taught me a few things. I learned that my family is capable of doing more than I realized and that I need to give myself more room to be me- aside from the hats I wear. After spending some time in prayer I arrived at the word “Brave” for 2018. I want to bold and brave and take some risks although I am not totally new to bravery. In fact I will tell you some adventurous things I have on my life resume!
- Moving across the country at 19, to be a nanny for a family I had never met.
- Giving birth 4 times, twice completely drug free.
- Driving a motorcycle, FAST.
- Sky diving, and zip-lining.
- White water rafting- and I fall out during rapids, every. single. time.
- Marrying a “bad boy” (its okay, he’s still around and he is all grown up!).
- Dancing like Elaine from Seinfeld- in front of clients every year at the Christmas party.
Sometimes getting personal and vulnerable is scarier than jumping out of an airplane!
And now I am starting a blog. It doesn’t seem like something that would require an inner adrenaline junkie or thrill seeker but it is something I have thought about doing for years and always had a reason (*excuse) to wait. Well since my word is BRAVE, I set out to poke holes in all the things that were holding me back and realized none of them held water. The best things in life are just outside your comfort zone! I believe this with my whole heart! Living means taking risks, being vulnerable and trying new things.
If you came here from my Instagram account, THANK YOU! I love to share on Instagram but there is so much more to talk about than food and weight loss, although I will still talk about that here as well! I am really looking forward to sharing some of my experiences, my family in a deeper way, and of course recipes on a much more user-friendly platform.
My dream is for this blog to be a space of encouragement, humor and inspiration, and my promise to you is to be authentic, honest and sincere. I truly am so thankful that you took a minute to check out my brand new project. I would love for you to subscribe and also leave me a comment telling me something brave you have done OR something that you would like to do in the future!
Until next time,
